Bob Kerrey was born in 1943 in Lincoln, Nebraska
He attended high school at Lincoln N. E. and graduated from University of Nebraska at Lincoln, BS in Pharmacy
Bob was a Pharmacist at Walgreens, 1960-1965
He joined the Navy and was an Officer, 1966-1969
He worked in Development at Easter Seals, 1970-1972
Created and Co-owned Grandmothers Restaurant chain, 1972-1982
Bob became the Governor of Nebraska, 1983-1987
He was the Co-owner and Operator of Grandmothers, Don & Millie’s and Prairie Life Fitness Centers, 1987-1988
Bob moved to Washington D.C. to be a US Senator, representing the state of Nebraska, 1989-2001
He became President of New School in New York City, a university founded on democratic ideals and daring educational practices, 2001-2011
He is currently Managing Director with Allen & Company since 2012. He is also Chair Emeritus of the Minerva Institute for Research and Scholarship, supporting The Minerva Project, an exceptional liberal arts and sciences education
Since the Senate Bob has engaged in: the 9/11 Commission, advisory board of the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans Association, co-chair of the Concord Coalition, and the Natural Defense Council
Bob served as a U.S. Navy SEAL during the Vietnam War. Received the Medal of Honor. Was wounded and received from this injury a great gift: sympathy for those who are suffering and an appreciation for the capacity of government to save your life
Senator Kerrey is married to Sarah Paley has three children and four grandchildren
